talkSPORT host Micky Gray has accused Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp of disrespecting the FA Cup following their third round defeat to Wolves on Monday night.The Reds lost 2-1 thanks to Ruben Neves’ fantastic long-range effort in a game which saw Klopp make nine changes from the team that lost to Manchester City last week.3

Academy players Curtis Jones, 17, and Rafa Camacho, 18 started the game while 16-year-old defender Ki-Jana Hoever – who is now the youngest player to represent the club in the FA Cup – played a large chunk of the tie after Dejan Lovren pulled up with an injury.The result also saw Klopp continue his poor run in the competition – having never got beyond the fourth round in four attempts since arriving at Anfield.His decision to select a weakened team was backed by talkSPORT host and ex-Red Dean Saunders, however, it did not sit well with Gray.3

Klopp’s risky team selection did not pay off

Speaking on Jim White, Gray said: “Why do you disrespect the FA Cup?“When you speak to any Liverpool fan because theyll still be talking about winning the Champions League its not going to happen.“Theyre not going to win the Champions League AND the Premier League, forget about it.“But would Jurgen Klopp play three young kids against Bayern Munich [Liverpool’s Champions League last-16 opponents]? Not a chance, not a chance!3

Gray believes the likes of Hoever should play against Bayern Munich if Liverpool are prioritising the league

“So youre talking about resting players and giving younger players an opportunity, so why not do that in the Champions League?“Is it because its better financially for your club to go further in the Champions League and not in the FA Cup?“I dont get it. If youre going to prioritise the Premier League then when we see them play against Bayern Munich those three young kids who got an opportunity in the FA Cup should get an opportunity in the Champions League. “If were talking about the FA Cup, one of the biggest cups and the sides that have won it over the years, its huge.“They [Liverpool] dissed it. They disrespected it by making nine changes because that is a huge opportunity for Liverpool.“Thats a huge opportunity for them to go all the way and pick up some silverware.”
