With a host of lucrative sponsorship deals including 10-year $100m contracts with both Nike and TaylorMade, and associations with Omega watches and NBC sports, it is no surprise to see the 30-year-old’s net increase of 28m in his wealth.Despite enduring a tough year in Spain, Gareth Bale is second on the list after seeing his net worth increase by 20m. Despite looking certain to move on, the Wales international’s contract with Real Madrid is worth 18.2m a year after tax.Next up, Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero takes his place on the list after seeing his wealth increase by 10m as his goals have helped fire the Citizens to within touching distance of the Premier League title. The Argentine earns about 15m a year, including a weekly salary of 250,000.The only other non-footballer on the list besides McIlroy is world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua, who saw a 14m increase in wealth this year. Also on the list is Paul Pogba, who saw his net worth rise by 12m this year. Pogba, who ranks eighth in the Young Sports Stars Rich List, was a World Cup winner with France last year, and has played for Manchester United since his record-breaking move in 2016 on a 290,000-a-week contract.Raheem Sterling is the third member of the PFA team on the Young Sports Stars Rich List. The Manchester City winger has enjoyed a stellar season, capped by scoring his first hat-trick for England and emerging as an eloquent leader of the fight against racism in football.
