Phil Brown has been dismissed from his position as Swindon manager, the League Two club have confirmed.Town edged past non-league York in the FA Cup on Saturday – their first home win since September – but they languish 17th in the league following a run of one win in eight matches.Brown was appointed Swindon boss earlier this year1

The 59-year-old was handed the Swindon hotseat in March following the departure of David Flitcroft to Mansfield.Assistant manager Neil McDonald has also followed Brown out of the door.A statement on Town’s official website read: “Swindon Town Football Club can today confirm that Phil Brown has been relieved of his duties as first-team manager. “Assistant manager Neil McDonald will also be leaving the club with immediate effect.“Swindon Town Football Club would like to put on record its thanks for the efforts of Phil and Neil in their time at SN1, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”

According to reports, the Germany international is Liverpools top summer target and could move for as low as 43million as he contract expires in 2020. He could be superb linking up again with former team-mate Naby Keita.
