Because in fact I do spend maybe two per cent of my time on Charlton, I have so many other things to do. Im not the only one, an owner of a big club, who doesnt have the time to take care of this.I didnt know (when I purchased the club) it was going to be the case. Thats the reason why I believe that the EFL shouldnt sell clubs to foreign owners who do not know this kind of thing can happen.Duchatelet says buying Charlton has been a major mistake.He angered Addicks fans once more after failing to sufficiently back manager Lee Bowyer in the January transfer window.The Addicks lost 14-goal striker Karlan Grant to Huddersfield in a deal in the region of 2million with just two days of the transfer window remaining.5

But only Gillinghams Josh Parker was brought in to replace Grants goals.Billy Clarkes arrival from Bradford in June 2017 was the last time Charlton paid a transfer fee for a player.Duchatelet added: For my life its been a major mistake to do that (buy Charlton). Its annoying. Its not nice.“I think its totally wrong that foreign people get involved with football.The thing that happened is that my press people were very wrong at the time in managing the situation.“Thats the main thing I can say. So in that sense the thing is you cannot control everything.Every club makes mistakes, every manager makes mistakes. So thats not the problem. The problem is that the situation is just not healthy.5

Charlton fans want Roland Duchatelet to sell-up

Its just not healthy this approach. I dont think that foreign owners who have a lot of money should be involved in English football.They should leave these people alone. Leave me alone thats what I say. I didnt ask for this. I wanted to have a nice club.Its not the fans in general, its just a few fans. I dont know how many. There were two who did (the graffiti). They could be fans, Im not sure.Despite Charltons off-field problems, Bowyer has been able to guide the club to fifth in League One with 12 games to go.An Australian consortium was set to end Duchatelets tenure in SE7 at the end of last season, however, fans are still eagerly awaiting news of a completed takeover.
