Gareth Bales failure to properly learn Spanish and speak the language publicly has really hurt his image with Real Madrid fans.Thats according to Spanish football expert Phil Kitromilides, who joined talkSPORT for the latest on the Welshmans Los Blancos woes.Bale was booed by his own supporters at the Bernabeu on Saturday when he was substituted during the1-0 defeat to bitter rivals Barcelona in El Clasico.2

The scenes led to his agent, Jonathan Barnett, launching a scathing attack on the Real fans, saying they should be ashamed of themselves and that their behaviour towards Bale is nothing short of a disgrace.Barnett joined talkSPORT for an exclusive interview on Tuesday to further explain his comments and warn Real Madrid the 29-year-old may be forced to leave if jeers continue.Bale has endured a strange spell in Spain since his 85m arrival from Tottenham.In his five-and-a-half years in Madrid, the Wales star has scored plenty of goals and helped the club to four Champions League titles, and yet he has never really won the hearts of the home support.And Kitromilides, host of the Spanish Football Podcast, believes he knows the key reason why…He doesnt speak Spanish, or certainly he doesnt speak Spanish publicly, he said on Tuesdays Sports Breakfast show.He has an understanding of Spanish and I think he communicates in the dressing room with some people in Spanish, but he has never given a public interview in Spanish and that had gone down really badly.2

Particularly when you see other players who have come here, like Luka Modric who gave the pre-match press conference yesterday in flawless Spanish. He took his time, but it was really good Spanish and hes been here about the same time as Gareth Bale.There are lots of players who have come here and have been able to pick up the language.Gareth doesnt have the confidence to speak publicly in Spanish and, superficial as it may seem, that has really affected his perception amongst Spanish people.So that really, really hasnt helped him.
